What Stage of Production is American Circumcision at?

Several people have asked us what the current stage of the film is. Here is the answer:

American Circumcision is already shot.

We are done filmming. We are in post-production.

Right now there is an edit slightly under 3-hours that we have screened to select test groups and are working to bring to it’s final runtime under 2-hours.

The funds we will be asking for in our Kickstarter next week are finishing-funds for the final stages of post-production.

We plan to continue post-production through the winter, allowing us to screen in film festivals this time next year.

People who have seen our current edit say the teaser trailers are a fair representation of the final film – though they do not reveal the big spoilers:

Our Teaser Trailer Went Viral – Here Is What’s Next

Within the 24 hours of being posted to our Facebook page, our teaser trailer received 156K views, 373 comments, and 2137 shares.

Thank you.

This is a massive success.

There are celebrities, studio films, and Presidential candidates who can’t do those numbers. Plus, based on the comments, the teaser reached many people who previously had never thought about this issue.

The teaser trailer also:

  • Got over 15,000 views on YouTube
  • Appeared on the front page of Reddit r/Documentaries, with over 600 upvotes, and 1500 comments
  • Went on to get over 270k views, 3000 shares, and 500 comments on Facebook (and climbing).

You all made this happen. This is your success.

That said…

We are just getting started.

Here is what’s next:

The last full week of October, we launch our Kickstarter.

During the Kickstarter, we will be doing a lot of social media.

Follow us on…

Instagram, where we will share stills, memes, and behind the scenes footage, some of which may be ONLY available in our Instagram story.

Twitter, where we will interact with you, share your responses, and maybe even reach out to a few public figures. If you want your comment to be heard by our audience, this is the best place.

Facebook, where we’ve already gone viral, and will continue to go viral. The more you like, comment, and share on Facebook the more its algorithm drives this issue to peoples awareness.

We’ll have new memes and content on all three social networks every day of our Kickstarter campaign.

Plus, we will release another teaser trailer and a full trailer for our Kickstarter campaign, which you can see by subscribing to our YouTube channel.

Like we said, we’re just getting started.

Imagine having a film on this subject you could give to someone that would take them from ignorant to expert in two hours.

American Circumcision will be that film.

American Circumcision is a feature-length documentary on circumcision in America, and the growing movement that says men should have the right to make their own choices about their bodies.

The first teaser trailer for American Circumcision will go online Monday, Sept 19.

The teaser and a longer trailer premiere at an academic conference at Keele University, Sept 13-16.

Behind The Scenes: American Circumcision Film Shoot

Last weekend, we had a film shoot for our upcoming documentary American Circumcision.

We filmed a hospital dramatization. There were two babies on set, both of whom were totally happy throughout the process. No babies were harmed in the making of this scene. Mostly, they were just really fascinated by our lighting gear.

We got all of our shots, including some wishlist ones.
